What is Precious Metal Clay (PMC)?

PMC is a fascinating material used in jewelry making that consists of metal particles suspended in a binder. PMC allows me to sculpt and shape metal just like clay. After shaping, the piece is dried and fired in a kiln, burning off the binder and leaving behind a solid metal object. This process enables intricate designs and details that might be difficult to achieve through traditional metalworking techniques. I use silver and bronzer PMC in my jewelry designs.

All other components of the jewelry are gold filled for bronze pieces and sterling silver for silver pieces.

How do I care for my new jewelry?

Unlock the secret to preserving the timeless allure of your bronze jewelry with these straightforward care tips. Whether you're a seasoned collector or new to the world of bronze adornments, maintaining the luster of your cherished pieces is a breeze with a little knowledge and effort.

For bronze: Start by incorporating occasional polishing sessions into your routine. We recommend Sunshine Polish Cloth for bringing back that golden shine. While commercial polishes are effective, natural remedies like a paste made from lemon juice and baking soda can also restore your ring's shine. This gentle approach respects the ring's artisanal craftsmanship while enhancing its beauty. The greenish tint that sometimes appears on the skin when wearing bronze jewelry is a result of the metal reacting with the skin's pH level. This does not happen to all people but applying clear nail polish to areas of direct contact can help prevent this effect. To further protect your bronze jewelry, avoid exposing it to harsh chemicals, like chlorine, excessive moisture, and prolonged sunlight, as these factors can accelerate tarnishing. Store your pieces in a dry, non-humid environment when not in use, ideally in individual pouches or compartments to prevent scratching and tangling.

For silver: To care for your silver jewelry, store it away from sunlight and chemicals, regularly clean with a soft cloth, and use a mild soap and water solution for tougher tarnish. Consider anti-tarnish strips for storage and remove before swimming or showering.
